Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy sets out how Tamara Louise Reid trading as Tamara Reid (ABN 65 770 804 304) ("Tamara Reid", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, holds, and discloses your personal information, whether that's through our website at tamarareid.co ("Website"), our online courses, store, and community, our in-person events and workshops, our one-to-one advisory and strategy sessions, our social media channels, or when you contact us directly.

We take your privacy seriously, and we've tried to write this in plain English so you can see exactly what happens with your information. If anything is unclear, please get in touch using the details at the end of this policy.

By providing us with personal information, you confirm that you've had the opportunity to read this Privacy Policy and that you consent to us collecting, using, holding, and disclosing your personal information as it describes. You don't have to give us any personal information, although if you choose not to, we may not be able to sell you a course or event ticket, give you access to our community, or respond to your enquiry.

1. The personal information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, the personal information we collect may include:

  • identity and contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number, business name, role, and billing address;
  • transaction details, such as the products, courses, events, and sessions you've purchased, and whether you've chosen a payment plan (card details are processed by our payment providers and are not stored by us);
  • account and course details, such as your login details for our course platform, your course progress, and anything you post in our online community;
  • event details, such as the events you've registered for and any dietary requirements you tell us about so we can cater for you on the day;
  • application and session details, such as the information you share when you apply for one-to-one advisory, book a strategy session, or complete a pre-session questionnaire, along with notes we take during those sessions;
  • quiz and survey responses, such as your answers to our A-List personal brand diagnostic, event feedback forms, and other surveys;
  • social media details, such as your Instagram handle and the messages you send us when you comment on or message our posts;
  • technical and usage details, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and how you use our Website and emails (for example, which pages you visit and which emails you open); and
  • marketing preferences, such as which of our email lists you've subscribed to.

Some dietary requirements (for example, allergies or intolerances) are health information, which the law treats as sensitive. We only collect it with your consent, we only use it to cater for you at our events, and we only share it with the venue and caterers for that event.

If you're simply making a general enquiry, you're welcome to do so without identifying yourself or by using a pseudonym, although we'll need your real details for anything you purchase or register for.

2. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you wherever we can, for example when you subscribe to our emails or register for our free masterclass, take our quiz, buy a course or event ticket, book or apply for a session, fill in a form, post in our community, message us on Instagram, or talk to us in person.

We also collect some information automatically through cookies, pixels, and similar technology when you use our Website and open our emails (see section 4), and occasionally from third parties, such as our payment and booking providers, or someone who refers you to us. Where we receive your personal information from a third party, we'll protect it in line with this policy.

If we receive personal information we didn't ask for and couldn't have lawfully collected, we'll destroy or de-identify it.

3. Why we collect, use, and disclose it

We collect, use, and disclose your personal information as reasonably necessary to run our business, including to:

  • deliver the courses, events, sessions, and resources you've signed up for, and give you access to our course platform and community;
  • process payments and payment plans, and issue receipts;
  • send you the information you need before and after an event or session (for example, joining details, catering, and feedback forms);
  • respond to your enquiries and applications;
  • personalise the content we send you, including based on your quiz results;
  • send you marketing emails about personal branding, speaking, and our offers, where you've agreed to receive them;
  • show you our advertising on other platforms such as Instagram and Facebook (including remarketing);
  • understand how our Website, emails, and advertising are performing so we can improve them;
  • keep business records and meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations; and
  • for any other purpose you've consented to, or that's required or authorised by law.

We won't use or disclose your personal information for any other purpose without your consent unless the law requires or allows it. We never sell your personal information.

Who we share it with. To do the things above, we share personal information with trusted people and providers who help us run the business, including:

  • our team members and contractors, on a need-to-know basis;
  • our course, website, store, and email platform (Kajabi);
  • our payment processors (such as Stripe);
  • our booking tool (TidyCal);
  • our social media and messaging tools (Meta and ManyChat);
  • our automation, file storage, and productivity tools (such as Zapier and Google Workspace);
  • analytics and advertising providers (such as Meta and Google);
  • event venues and caterers, limited to your name and any dietary requirements; and
  • our professional advisers, such as our accountant and lawyer.

We ask these providers to protect your personal information and to use it only to provide their services to us.

Overseas disclosure. Several of the platforms we use store data on servers outside Australia, mostly in the United States, so your personal information may be disclosed to or held by recipients in the United States and other countries where those providers operate. We take reasonable steps to make sure those providers handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Testimonials and case studies. We'll only publish your name, image, words, or results as a testimonial or case study with your permission.

Event photography and filming. We sometimes photograph or film our events for our own marketing. We'll let you know at the event when this is happening, and if you'd prefer not to appear, just tell us on the day or email us and we'll respect that.

Automated decisions. We don't use your personal information to make decisions about you by automated means that could significantly affect you. Our quiz results simply tailor the information and emails we send you.

4. Cookies, pixels, and analytics

A cookie is a small file placed on your device that helps a website remember you and your preferences. We and our providers use cookies and similar technology (such as the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics) to keep you logged in to our course platform, keep the Website secure, understand how people use the Website and our emails, and show you relevant advertising on other platforms.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, although parts of the Website (including course login and checkout) may not work properly if you do. You can manage how Meta uses information for advertising through your Facebook and Instagram ad settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising more broadly at www.aboutads.info/choices.

5. Email marketing and how to opt out

We only send marketing emails where you've agreed to receive them (for example, by subscribing, downloading a free resource, or registering for our masterclass), or where the law otherwise allows it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by clicking it or by emailing us.

Tamara Reid and Inside Industry send separate emails to separate audiences, and you can choose to receive either or both. Unsubscribing from one doesn't automatically unsubscribe you from the other, so please let us know if you'd like to be removed from both.

Even if you unsubscribe from marketing, we'll still send you essential messages about anything you've purchased or registered for, such as course access, payment plan reminders, and event details.

6. Links to other websites

Our Website, emails, and courses sometimes link to other websites. This policy only covers information we collect, so we're not responsible for how those websites handle your information, and we'd encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing anything with them.

7. Accessing, correcting, or deleting your information

Access. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

Correction. If you think anything we hold about you is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading, please let us know and we'll take reasonable steps to correct it. You can also update some of your details yourself through your course account.

Deletion. You can ask us to delete your personal information or stop using it for a particular purpose (such as targeted advertising). We'll do this unless we need to keep it for legal, tax, or accounting reasons, in which case we'll tell you. Because of backups and system records, some residual information may remain for a period, but we won't use it for any purpose once it's been functionally deleted.

We'll respond to any access, correction, or deletion request within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We won't charge you for making a request.

8. How we keep your information secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. These include using reputable platforms with encrypted (SSL) connections for our Website, checkout, and course platform; never storing card details ourselves; limiting access to personal information to the people who need it; protecting our devices and accounts with passwords and two-factor authentication where available; storing data securely in the cloud; and deleting or de-identifying personal information once we no longer need it.

No website or online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we can't promise that a breach will never happen. If a data breach involving your personal information is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll notify you as soon as practicable and take the steps the law requires of us.

9. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as long as the law requires (for example, financial records are generally kept for seven years). Dietary information collected for an event is deleted once the event is over.

10. Children

Our Website, courses, events, and services are designed for adults working in the hair, beauty, and aesthetics industry. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and if we learn that we have, we'll delete it.

11. Making a complaint

If you think we've breached this Privacy Policy or mishandled your personal information, please contact us using the details below and we'll look into it and respond within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days). If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we change the tools we use or the law changes. The current version will always be on our Website, with the date it was last updated.

13. Contact us
